Free Academic Tutoring

We are proud to partner with Learn To Be 501(c)(3) to offer Free SAT and K-12 Subject-Based Tutoring to military children across the United States.

SFMC offers free, one-on-one virtual tutoring sessions for K-12 military children. Tutoring is available for core subjects such as English, math, science, and history as well as standardized tests such as the SAT and SSAT.

How to Register:

>> Register for virtual tutoring on the Learn To Be platform by clicking the "Sign Up For Tutoring!" button on the right side of this page. Create a LTB account by filling out the account form with your name, email, phone number, desired subject, grade level, and preferred language (English/Spanish). Answer the "What school or community is the student a part of?" question by selecting "Rye Country Day School" (we partner with LTB through its RCDS branch). Afterwards, click "Submit" and create a password for your account.

  • Completed LTB registration form:

>> After registering for LTB, the platform will direct you to the tutoring requirements form. It asks for your student's desired subject and grade level, a brief description of them (e.g. personal characteristics, study habits, etc.) and an outline of the topics or areas they need the most support in. Next, LTB will ask for your contact information again and your school/community name. Fill out your cell phone number, time zone, and select "Rye Country Day School," then scroll down.

  • Your LTB tutoring requirements form so far (example):

>> At the bottom of the tutoring requirements form is the availability checklist where LTB asks for your student's preferred session times. Click the "+" sign next to the day, then enter the times your student is available (you can add as many as you want). *Since tutors are in high demand, providing a broad range of times will increase the chances we can match your student with a tutor quickly.

  • Completed LTB tutoring requirements form:

>> Click the "Save & Look For A Tutor" button at the bottom of the page. You'll likely receive an email from a tutor within 24 hours. If you do not hear back from Learn To Be within 3 days, please email SFMC at studentsformilitarychildren@gmail.com.

Congrats! You have successfully registered for free virtual tutoring through SFMC! On top of 1-on-1 tutoring sessions Learn To Be also offers group sessions in different areas like coding, science, reading, math and more! For a complete overview of Learn To Be's resources and tools, please watch the "Learn To Be Platform Guide" at the top of this page.

Important Notes:

>> Eligibility: Applicants must be U.S. citizens, with at least one parent or guardian who currently serves, is retired, or deceased from the Army, Marine Corps, Air Force, Navy, Coast Guard or Space Force
